Sunday 1st November this year is ‘Lhabab Duchen’, the ‘Festival of the Descent from Heaven’ — one of the four major Buddhist holidays, when karmic effects are said to be multiplied by ten million times! Shamatha (or ‘Shi-ne’) is the foundation for all further meditation practice. It is designed to create the calm, stable, supple mind necessary to work with other meditation techniques, and it is a practice in its own right. Ross met Kyabje Chime Rinpoche in 1976 and became his student after feeling an instant, deep connection to him. Rinpoche guided Ross through all aspects of his personal and work relationships. Ross considers Shine and Guru Yoga as his main practice, alongside his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. Ross was honoured to become a member of the White Sangha in 2018.
