Attendee Guide and Event Information

PLEASE READ IN ADVANCE OF ATTENDING

Thank you for booking your place for the teachings and empowerments with Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche at Marpa House on Saturday 25th October and/or Sunday 26th October 2025.

However, this guide will answer the most common questions for those attending in person.

TIMINGS

Saturday 25th October

Event starts at 9:30 am and finishes at 6 pm (approx.) Please do not arrive before 8:00 am (access will not be allowed). Please arrive before 9:00 am to register and to ensure a prompt start.

Sunday 26th October

Event starts at 9:30 am and finishes at 2 pm (approx.) Please do not arrive before 8:00 am (access will not be allowed). Please arrive before 9:00 am to register and to ensure a prompt start.

The programme is very full. Timings may vary, and we cannot guarantee start/finish times. Please arrive promptly and be patient with timings – thank you for your understanding.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING

If you are receiving treatment for a mental or physical health condition and are concerned about attending, please continue your treatment and check with your doctor or care professional if the empowerments are suitable for you.

To protect our vulnerable sangha members, we ask that you do not attend if you have Covid or Covid symptoms, are unwell, or have been in close contact with someone with Covid.

ENTRANCE TO THE MARPA HOUSE GROUNDS

Your name will be on the registration list on arrival. If you can bring a printed or digital copy of your e-ticket, this will speed up the registration process.

PRAYER TEXTS

Copies of the texts will be provided. Donations for printing costs would be greatly appreciated.

TRANSLATION

Rinpoche’s teaching will be in Tibetan and translated into English; no other translation is available.

FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS

Tea/coffee & biscuits are included. Soya/oat milk are provided for tea/coffee.

A vegetarian lunch is available to purchase on-site from our friends at Tibet Flavour (cash only – approximately £7-10 per meal).

You are also welcome to bring a packed lunch with you, but please note that only vegetarian food is permitted on the House & grounds. There are places in Saffron Walden where you can purchase food if you prefer to eat elsewhere. There is also a pub in Ashdon (Rose and Crown).

PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING

Photography and the use of mobile phones, laptops, or other electronic devices are not permitted in the House, Marquee, and grounds, except for those authorised by the Dharma Trust to use them for the purpose of recording audio, photo, or film material.

WHAT TO BRING

You may wish to bring a blanket and warm clothes if you feel you will need them. A limited number of blankets will be available. The marquee will be heated before the event.

Please bring a notebook and a pen if you would like to take notes during the teachings. We do not have storage space for your personal belongings. Anything you bring is at your own risk.

OFFERINGS

Please bring a khatak in case there is an opportunity to offer one to Rinpoche. There will be a limited number of khataks available to buy at registration. Cash payment only.

TAXI INFORMATION

Taxis or cars will have access to the House for dropping off attendees. Please turn round in the House drive, rather than further up the lane; this is to minimise disruption to our neighbours.

PARKING OPTIONS

Please carshare if you can. 

There will be a car park attendant at the bottom of Rectory Lane to ensure a safe flow of cars or to direct attendees to the various car parks we are using for the event.

If you have accessibility requirements, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us so we can best accommodate you. There is limited parking at Marpa House to help those most in need. These places have now been allocated.

Parking is available at the following two locations:

Ashdon Primary School (5-10 minutes’ walk to Marpa House)
Bartlow Road, Ashdon, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB10 2HB

Ashdon Children’s Nursery (10-15 minutes’ walk to Marpa House)
Hill Farm, Radwinter Road, Ashdon, Saffron Walden, CB10 2ET

Please do not try to park at Marpa House itself, and please be considerate of our friends in the village.
